JA Happ was named Sporting News' ROY.
The first postseason award for the Phillies rolled in this evening as pitcher JA Happ was named The Sporting News‘ Rookie of the Year today, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Happ, who started the season in the bullpen before moving to the starting rotation, compiled a 12-4 record with a 2.93 ERA.
Happ beat out, among others, Atlanta Braves pitcher Tommy Hanson, who went 9-3 with a 2.83 ERA.
The Phillies stud rookie was one of the more consistent pitchers this year and has helped the team during its run toward a return World Series appearance.





Tommy Hanson went 11-4 2.89 era, don’t know where you got that he was 9-3 in 2009.
