McCourt pays GM Colletti

October 21st, 2009 · No Comments · MLB

Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt has not had a good week. First, he announces the night before the NLCS against the Phillies started that he and his wife had separated.

Then, he watched his beloved Dodgers stud bullpen get blown up in Games 1 and 4.

So, how does he try to make himself feel better just hours after Jimmy Rollins torched a 99-mph fastball into the outfield to give the Phillies a come-from-behind 5-4 win in the ninth inning? According to espn.com, he rewarded GM Ned Colletti with a contract extension.

So, his team is on the verge of losing to the Phillies in the NLCS for the second straight game. And he throws money at his GM?

He must be trying to give away his money before he loses it in a divorce settlement. Why else would you announce this extension now? Why not wait until after you fly home losers on Wednesday night?

Colletti has led the Dodgers to the playoffs in three of the last four years. He clearly has earned this extension. We just question the timing of it.
