Myers added to World Series roster, Cairo left home

The Phillies have decided to take 12 pitchers to the World Series and added Brett Myers to the roster today. According to Andy Martino of the Inquirer, Miguel Cairo has been removed from the roster to make room for Myers.

Speedster Eric Burntlet remains on the roster and will play in the Fall Classic,  likely fitting in as a pinch runner should Matt Stairs reach base.

Brett Myers is on the Phillies World Series roster.

Hints over the last week suggested Myers would participate in the World Series. Both Uncle Charlie and Ruben Amaro have said Myers appeared to have his velocity and accuracy back following a bout with a strained shoulder.

Brett has had a strange year, to say the least.

The opening day pitcher suffered a hip injury that caused him to have surgery in late May. He had a slim chance to return late in the season and worked his arse off to do so. However, just days before he was going to be called back up to the big club in late August, he was punched fell on his kids toys while getting out of the backseat of his SUV.

Myers later did complete his rehab and returned to the big club, pitching well until his shoulder strain.

Now, the future free agent is back and looks to potentially ride off to another team as a World Series champ, much like Pat Burrell did a year ago. He will have a chance to pitch in this series. Putting another ring on his finger is well within his grasp.
