Steinbrenner talking garbage again

Those of you who remember the insane, eccentric George Steinbrenner on Seinfeld won’t be disappointed to learn the real Steinbrenner is now just as crazy.

Instead of viewing the character like this:

Now, we have the real man’s words to read and laugh at. Today, he began showing the overconfidence that many egomaniacs are born with these days. According to NJ.com, the Yankees released the following statement from Georgie:

“The Yankees’ enormous will to win, tremendous professionalism and great team spirit, backed by the best, most vocal and supportive fans have propelled us into the World Series,” Steinbrenner said. “We’re looking forward to our 27th ring.”

OK, forgive us for laughing at the old man as we analyze what he has just said. He is clearly losing his ability to talk serious garbage before a big-time series.

First, the fact that he mentions winning the 27th ring shows he is counting his chickens a little too early. How can someone be so confident before a series against the defending World Phucking Champions even starts. Then again, he is a New Yorker, so what else do we expect? Mets fans still think they’re going to catch the Phillies and win the division this year.

Next, he mentions professionalism of his organization. Professionalism? Really? From a guy who oversaw the team during the Jason Giambi, Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, and A-Rod signings in the steroid era. A “professional” organization doesn’t let the Juice run rampant in its clubhouse for years.

Finally, Georgie mentions loyalty of his fan base. Did he not see the empty seats in the front rows of the new Yankee Stadium this year? Don’t mention the prices as an excuse. New York is full of people and corporations with the money to pay for those seats if they were so moved to do so. The seats aren’t empty now, are they?

Steinbrenner better get a grip on reality. It’d be a major shame for the man to suffer severe depression and disappointment when his team loses.
