How would you like to pay an average employee $80 million to sit in your cubicle and not produce? When you need to close a deal, you call in the 22-year-old college graduate.

Ed Stefanski is denying reports that Elton Brand is on the trade market.
The Sixers need to admit the Elton Brand signing was a mistake no matter how much we all liked the team’s aggressiveness when they signed him.
Team General Manager Ed Stefnski is in denial. According to Phil Jasner, Stefanski’s response to a report that the team had made Brand available on the trade market was a simple, that’s not true.”
Maybe Stefanski isn’t calling every team in the league, and maybe he’s not desperate to dump Brand yet. The fact of the matter is that he has to listen to offers for the big man. If Stefanski isn’t willing to trade Brand, then he needs to join Billy King in the unemployment line.
Brand didn’t fit the offense last year and slowed the team down. Not much has changed this year. Brand isn’t happy with his playing time, and the Sixers can’t be happy they are in this situation.
Brand needs to be traded before this turns into another Chris Webber situation.
If you can get a truck of used sneakers for him, do it. Yesterday. Get rid of the contract now before it’s too late.

I don’t see Brand going anywhere unfortunately for the sixers. Even Dalembert, who’s my least favorite sixer, is more tradeable at this point. I along with many people thought the sixers would become a contender with the addition of Brand last year.
I agree that Brand is virtually untradeable. However, and I am going to write this story up at a later date, they should try to trade Brand and a first to some team for a couple of expiring contracts. The Sixers are one star away from being a legit contender. Some team in need of a name player will take his contract if you give them a first, too. We’ve had the draft picks. We need a player who knows how to win; a guy who can change the mindset and culture of the team.
