The nerve of Roger Goodell and the NFL offices for failing to consult with Mark Cuban and the rest of the NBA’s owners prior to creating the playoff schedule for Wild Card weekend.
The NFL has scheduled the Eagles and Cowboys game for 8 p.m. on Saturday in Dallas. The Dallas Mavericks are scheduled to host the Utah Jazz at 8:30.
Mark Cuban probably wishes he could get Roger Goodell in a WWE ring.
Cuban apparently is worried that a few people might actually watch an NFL playoff game instead of his superpower Mavs, who are off to a 23-11 start and sit in first place in the Southwest division.
The Mavs eccentric owner lashed out at the NFL, according to ESPN.com.
“I know we’re just little pissants compared to the NFL, but seriously, the NFL is turning into the ugly American when it comes to sports leagues,” Cuban said. “They don’t give a crap about anybody but themselves.”
Wow, and we thought David Stern was the only sports commissioner who had to worry about Cuban. But wait, there’s more.
“There’s a balance between all the leagues,” Cuban said. “They deal with similar issues. They deal with issues with copyright, antitrust, [Federal Communications Commission], all kinds of things. And it’s going to bite them in the ass one day. Maybe the other leagues, when it comes to supporting them, will pull a Jim Irsay and disappear in the middle of the night.”
I’m sure the NFL’s ratings will dip this weekend and that Roger Goodell is losing sleep over the comments of Cuban.
