The list goes on. The man responsible for scouting and evaluating some of the great young talent on the Eagles team has flown the coup.

Tom Heckert is leaving for Browner pastures.

Tom Heckert was officially named the General Manager of the Cleveland Browns today. He will report to Andy Reid mentor and new Browns grand poobah Mike Holmgren.

While no official word has been released regarding Heckert’s authority in Cleveland, one has to think he will at least have some say in future coaching hires, as well as the drafting of personnel.

In Philly, Heckert was the GM in title, but deferred all authority to Andy Reid. We can’t see Heckert making a lateral move to a team that needs major help. It’d be better to stay with a winner and wait for another opportunity where he’d have full authority.

The move is a good one for Heckert if he has added responsibilities and we wish him the best. Having said that, we wonder how he and Eric Mangini will coexist.

While the move is good for Heckert, this now puts the Eagles in a bind as the man who oversaw the scouting department for the upcoming draft has moved on and the eagles will need to move swiftly to replace him so they are ready when they are on the clock in April.

According to speculation in and out of the football world, Howie Roseman will be promoted from Vice President of player Personnel to General Manager.
