David Akers was named an All-Pro.

If you heard that the Eagles had one player named to The Sporting News’ All-Pro Team on offense, you’d likely think it was wideout DeSean Jackson. And, you’d be as wrong as the rest of us.

Kicker David Akers was the lone Birds represeatative on the team that was announced today.

Akers returned to Pro Bowl form this year, nailing 32-of-37 field goals and 43-of-45 extra points.

The Vikings led all NFL teams with three players including tailback Adrian Peterson, guard Steve Hutchinson and kick returner Percey Harvin.

At receiver, Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson took the honors over Jackson, and you can’t really argue with that.
