Have the Eagles offered an extension to Kevin Kolb?
We’re planning to take a look at the quarterback situation later this weekend on DailyPhiladelphian.com, but we have to address the rumors that the Eagles have offered a contract extension to Kevin Kolb.
Gary Cobb reported yesterday on GCobb.com that negotiations were ongoing. The Eagles, meanwhile, have disputed that report. Which side should the fan base believe?
The fact that Kolb’s agent is not returning calls tells us something is happening behind the scenes. Silence speaks volumes, especially in this case.
The Eagles do not like negotiating through the media, and Kolb’s agent likely doesn’t want to rock the boat. The fact that his client is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is still behind McNabb can’t sit well. Kolb wants and needs security, especially since nobody knows when he’ll be a free agent due to the lack of a CBA after this season.
We’ve thought all along that the team would offer extensions to both McNabb and Kolb and the first one to take it stays, and the other one gets shipped out of town.
The question now is this: Has McNabb’s agent Flecther Smith heard from the Eagles?
