Shane Victorino is battling a sore shoulder this spring. No word if it was from bending the arm a bit too much to catch beers this winter.
The Flyin’ Hawaiian may not be ready to soar come the opening of the exhibition season on Wednesday when the Phillies play Florida State. Shane Victorino has been battling a sore shoulder during the early part of camp.
The injury doesn’t appear to be serious and likely isn’t. Players are just starting to throw after being relatively inactive, as far as doing baseball skills, since early November. Some soreness is to be expected.
Phils skipper Charlie Manuel says he is keeping Victorino out of throwing drills as a precaution, and isn’t sure of his All-Star centerfielder’s status for the start of the exhibition schedule. We see no reason to play Victorino at this point, and think it’s wise to shut him down for a week or so.
