Yes, the Washington Redskins will host former Eagles running back Brian Westbrook. Apparently, this is at the urging of former Eagles signal caller Donovan McNabb.
McNabb and Westbrook combined for a ton of great, explosive plays in Philadelphia. The chances of the two doing that in Redskin uniforms is slim. First, Westbrook is not the explosive force he was a few seasons ago. Second, it’s doubtful the Redskins will sign BWest36.
Mike Shanahan already has Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson and Willie Parker on the roster. He coached Portis in Denver and knows what the former Bronco can do. Johnson and Parker were signed this offseason. Granted, all are injury prone and likely past their prime. But, so is Westbrook.
What purpose would signing Westbrook serve?
Signing Broan Westbrook doesn't make much sense for the Washington Redskins.
If anything, this is just another visit to get the former All-Pro running back’s name out there among NFL teams. Westbrook has a better shot landing in New England than he does in Washington.
Don’t expect the former Eagles stud to sign anywhere before training camps have started.
