Rocky Balboa has his left fist cocked for the haymaker. Now, it’s up to the Flyers to connect on the chins of the Canadians.
Following yet another 3-0 shutout victory for goalie Michael Leighten and the Flyers, Philly is a win away from an improbable trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Somewhere, Jeff Lurie and Eagles management are choking. No way can a team one win away from elimination two weeks ago be in the driver’s seat of the Eastern Conference Finals. No way can the pro hockey team be the conplete opposite of the chocking we’ve seen our beloved football team do.
Believe it.
But don’t get comfortable. The Flyers have three chances to close out this series. But it says here they need to win Game 5 at home. Don’t go back through customs.
We all saw what the Flyers did when trailing Boston 3-0 in the semifinals. The Flyers also know the same could happen to them.
They will connect with the haymaker. They have to. And Leighton will provide the power behind Balboa’s punch.
Who’s aleady setting up the lawnchairs for the party at Frankford and Cottman?
