Five games, four runs. Failing to score an earned run in four of the last five games.
Meet the Phillies late May offense.
For one night, Philly TV and radio was not focused on the Phillies lack of offense thanks to Roy Halladay’s perfect game Saturday night — the second on team history and 20th of all time in MLB.
But, the morning after is time to focus on the Phils missing back. After being shut out for an entire series against the Mets and 30 innings overall, the Phillies managed to get three runs behind Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Raul Ibanez in Friday’s win.
Overpowering? No. Signs of life? Bunting themselves out of a slump? Possibly.
But then Saturday came. While the squeaky red machine managed seven hits, the only run the team scored was unearned.
