A day removed from Adam Burish’s moronic comments suggesting Chris Pronger is the NHL’s biggest “idiot,” the Flyers defenseman issued a classic response.

At first, Pronger said he didn’t have much to say about a guy who didn’t see much ice time. Then, when asked about Burish’s statement that he’d “like to punch Pronger the next time” they see each other, Pronger reeled off a classic one-line:

“Where’s that? In the minors?” he asked.

Pronger may be on to something here. Since Burish obviously knows he won’t be around to actually see Pronger face-to-face next year, he let the champagne muscles flex on Wednesday night. (We still question why NBC even interviewed the dope. It’d be the equivalent of Stacey Andrews being interviewed after an Eagles game last year.)

Anyway, we’d like to see the Flyers loan Pronger to an AHL team for one night next year just so Burish can get what’s coming to him. We’ll even take care of the travel and lodging costs for Pronger just to see this happen. Something tells us Burish would be a healthy scratch if Pronger showed up one night next season. That’s exactly what a punk like Burish would do.

For those who didn’t see it, here’s Pronger’s interview.

Whether or not Burish acquired a great number of minutes in the Playoff games doesn’t matter. What matters is that he can call out what bullshit Chris Pronger really is. While Pronger make smartass remarks about what was said of him to ease the pain of losing the cup, all of us in Chicago, including Burish, will keep celebrating our Stanley Cup win. And Leighton can stop bitching about how he let in a “soft goal.” Grow up and take responsibility for giving up a great game-winning goal.

  2. Frank Ward

That was such a great game-winning goal that your radio announcers got to explode with the emotions of calling the final goal of a championship series.

As far as your defense of Burish, the guy should just retire and start a sports talk radio program. Hey, I give Chicago props for winning, but Burish needs to shut his trap.

  3. Blackhawks Fan

I am a Blackhawks fan and I am embarrassed by Burish’s idiotic comments.

  4. hawky town fan

So burish will be in the ahl? frank ward you’re a idiot as well my friend…..

  5. PhillyFan

Doesn’t matter if he played or not, he won the cup and the flyers didn’t. He can say what he wants. Now whether or not he can back up his thoughts is questionable, but it’s just like in any other sport; you can say what you want before, but after the game if you lose you keep your mouth shut, and if you win, you can say whatever you want. Granite what Pronger said was fine, because he was called out, but if he came out and said something about Burish, that’s being a sore loser.

  6. Another Hawks Fan

I am a Blackhawks fan and think Burish had to balls to call out truly the biggest idiot in the NHL today. Nicely done. Where did they get Pronger’s interview, from his morning nursery school? Or did he show up to the rink for game seven yesterday morning?

  7. Frank Ward

At least I know to capitalize proper nouns.

  8. bob

Sour grapes, my friend. Defend Pronger, if you’d like…we’re busy in Chicago holding parades, going on the Tonight Show…you know, the stuff champions do. If Pronger is such a tough guy, he shouldn’t be bothered by a little criticism and neither should you. Now get back to the Phils…a team with a real chance of winning something.

  9. Norm

“Grow up and take responsibility for giving up a great game-winning goal”?! Isn’t acknowledging that it was a softie doing just that? Leighton has shown amazing humility, although part of me thinks that he thinks he needs to in order to have any chance of staying around next year.

  10. Ben

All the Blackhawk fans talking about how they will be celebrating hit the nail on the head.

Burish should have been celebrating, not taking pot shots at the losing team’s players.

PS. Burish won’t be in the AHL because the Hawks will need all the help they can get after the cap blows their team to the four corners of the league.

  11. Jonny Hawk

Philly is full of a bunch of pussy ass fans, who cant take a loss like men. Chrissy sucks dicks and takes the jizz in his face.

  12. Frank Ward

And you Mr. Hawk are the epitome of class with your incredible vocabulary. I wish I lived near Chicago so I could acquire your top-notch education.

  13. bob

The shot of Pronger on the bench seconds after the goal is enough for me…leaning on his stick, knowing his team, despite his antics, came up short because the better team won. It’s really that simple…Flyers are damn good team…plenty of teams would kill to add Pronger to their rosters…but his antics bring this stuff on. So someone took a jab at him. They say much worse to each other during the games. As far the Hawks next year…wishful thinking Ben…the core is young and in tact…we lost a little depth…but we’re a presence for years to come.

  14. Josh

Hey!!!!! Anyone notice Pronger lost the ‘A’ on his jersey after his shananigans early in the stanley cup final round? yeah the media missed that, I thought they would have a field day with Pronger for that….anyway, Frank your article sucked, sorry

  15. Will

Hey Pronger, I don’t think Burish can hear you over the sound of his Stanley Cup ring

  16. Will

And last I heard about Philly fans, a dude put his finger down his throat to puke on a 12 year-old girl who was wearing the jersey of the opposite team you classless punks

  17. Will

…and I definitely can’t remember the last time Adam Burish had a -5 in a Stanley Cup Final game…but Chris Pronger? Yes I can…I rest my case

  18. FlyersFan

The fact that a bunch of you actually think that Pronger is overrated because he had a single -5 game is absurd. He took the Oilers to the Stanley Cup Finals with Dwayne Roloson as their goalie, how’s he doing now? He won it in Anaheim with a hot G.S. Giguere… who isn’t even starting now. And now he carryed this Flyers defense to the Finals while logging insane amounts of minutes (most of those spent negating the “unstoppable” Dustin Byfuglien); all with journeyman goaltenders in our crease. Yes, you did win the cup. But this war of the words would be like Carcillo calling out Duncan Keith, and us blindly agreeing that Keith is overrated. Keith should win the Norris, and Philly fans are smart enough to realize this. It’s a shame the Hawks’ fans can’t do the actual team any justice.

  19. Frank Ward

Finally, FlyersFan brings a sense of objectivity to this discussion.

  20. spicemanpeteo

what happened in the past that triggered Philly fans to be so critical and negative. You cannot dispute that there is a national reputation that Philly fans are agressive.

  21. Nikki

To Flyers Fan: So what you’re saying is that the Flyers not make the playoffs next year? Yes, Pronger “helped” bring teams to the finals but only won ONE of the years. And look at the Oilers now. That year they didn’t make the playoffs, and now were the last team in the league.

Pronger may help you “get” there but he has only closed out a final once. WITH help from his teammates.

You don’t mock the hockey gods like he did and get away with it. I’m sorry, but you don’t openly mock the game, and it’s players, and expect to win. He is a perfect fit for the Flyers because he’s a cheap player.

Should Burish have said these things? Probably not. Should Pronger have said the things he did, and take the pucks? Probably not. I think if Flyers fans would just agree that Pronger was in the wrong too, no matter how “great” he is, Hawks fans wouldn’t be so.. rude.

And FYI, Burish was saying this stuff all along. He is one of the most quoted Blackhawks because he’s funny. And funny at the expense of himself, and his teammates, who jab right back. He is not mocking other teams or calling them “little minded” Yes, I agree this might have been to far, it started out funny and then got a little out of hand, but get a sense of humor.

If it was the Flyers winning, and Richards or someone said it about the Hawks, you’d all be cheering him saying WOOHOO you go for telling it like it is.

You can dish it, but you can’t take it, Flyers.

  22. Chrisanne

Sounds like that parade and party in Chicago is sooooooo incredible, just a bunch of bandwagon’s who sit in a big circle on laptops commenting on the Flyers and Pronger because they’re still on their minds after supposedly the biggest win in Hawk’s history. Lame! Sorry Hawk fans, you should learn from the 5,000 true Hawk fans that knew the team existed before 2 months ago, on how to celebrate a huge accomplishment. To those 5,000 fans who suffered through bad seasons and a former terrible owner, I am very happy for you to finally get this moment.

When the Phillies won 2 years ago, the last thing on my mind after the Championship were any of the Rays or defending one of our scrub players that never left the safety of the dugout. Nope, I was out celebrating the Phillies and our City’s victory.

So keep on coming to meaningless blogs and leaving your little trash talk for a team you won’t be jumping on the wagon again till next May. You just keep proving how awesome Pronger really is and that he’s got you all still so upset you can’t enjoy your Victory for 10 minutes without still thinking about him.

    Enjoy the Salary Cap Bandhawks!

  23. Chrisanne

    @spicemanpeteo and Will

Right and Chicago is so classy right? They wouldn’t throw a beer at a player, trying to prevent the player from making a play in the middle of game would they? Oh that’s right, you already did that. What’s that? That was only one idiot that didn’t represent all of Chicago’s sports fans? Funny how that only seems to apply for you, but you can quickly point at one incident and brand an entire city with it.

Try looking up what happened to that vomiting idiot the next time he attempted to go to a sports event here and got noticed from his mug shot photos. Or ask the Hawk fans attending game 6, who might have been heckled during the game for wearing their colors, but after were given exiting Flyers fans ticket stubs so they could sneak down to the lower section of the arena and take in the Hawk’s cup celebration up close and personal. Funny how no one ever hears about those little stories. But we boo Gary Bettman (which every city rightfully does) and all the drama queens are quick to jump to the conclusion that we’re booing the cup.

  24. Hawks

That is what Burish does. He is an agitator and a really good one. He pretty much took the Sedins out of the Vancouver series without even seeing a lot of ice time.

  25. Pronger is so overated! So, whether or not you like Burish, Ya gotta love the pool balls for saying it. After I saw the video of Burish partying at 8am. He gets my vote! Pronger sucks and is just a Jerk everybody loves to hate.

  26. Josh

AGAIN, Chris Pronger lost his assistant captaincy during the finals…..pretty sad if you asked me.

How come no one saw his missing ‘A?’

  27. Dom

Chrisanne … “So keep on coming to meaningless blogs and leaving your little trash talk” … For being such a meaningless blog you sure have wasted a lot of time with YOUR “little trash talk!”

Maybe I am mistaken, but based on your overly emotional, defensive remarks, it appears this loss may have really scarred you for life … In my opinion, you should spend less time on your pathetic attempts to defend your fan-base/city and more time dealing with your inner struggles to accept defeat like a man …

  28. FYI, Josh, the Flyers have rotated the ‘A’ amongst four different players all season (Carter, Gagne, Pronger, and Timonen). This is common among NHL franchises. As a Hawk fan you probably have not been following hockey for too long, so I do not hold this against you. The Flyers always have one ‘A’ on offense and one on defense. It is highly likely that when you noticed the lack of an ‘A’ on Pronger’s jersey Timonen was functioning in that capacity that game. Nothing unusual there.

  29. Tpot

Funny how “fans” will bash someone for speaking the truth when they’re up in arms when politicians, spouses, etc lie to them on a daily basis. Personally, I was never taught that there’s a wrong time to tell the truth.

  30. Nikki

“Or ask the Hawk fans attending game 6, who might have been heckled during the game for wearing their colors, but after were given exiting Flyers fans ticket stubs so they could sneak down to the lower section of the arena and take in the Hawk’s cup celebration up close and personal”

Why would they need a ticket? The game is over, the guards don’t care if you go down to the game after or not. At least not any arena I have been in. They don’t care if you go down before to take pictures, or after. So really, that’s a lame example.

Growing up outside of Chicago, they have always had die hard fans. But like anything, teams go through a down time. The Wings did it way back when, when they had to give away CARS in order to get people to come to the games. Look at Phoenix. They sold out most of their arena (Granted, I think that was mostly people for the opposing team, but still! They have a pretty tight following). I’m sure the Flyers went through that period too. Everyone does. It doesn’t mean the die hard fanas any less important. And yes, there were bandwagon fans, just like In Philly.

Now, with that said, I’m sure if you did a poll of who has the best fans, the Flyers or Hawks would not win. They both have shitty fans, and they both have amazing fans. Just like any other team in this league.

I just love how I found this on twitter, with them asking for more flyers fans to comment and it looks like more Hawks have! haha

  31. MFC

Josh, I wish someone hadn’t beaten me to explaining what an idiot you are. Pronger and Carter wear the ‘A’ on the road and Gagne and Timmonen wear it at home. Idiot! Burish is classless. An aggitator does it on the ice, not after winning the cup. That’s not aggitating, that’s just shoving your foot in your mouth.
And how exactly does one take the Sedin’s out of a series while playing a few short minutes a game? That makes no sense.
Oh, and maybe one of you geniuses can explain to me why in the world Burish was wearing all of his equipment when he went on the ice to celebrate. Can you please explain that?? Please.

  32. Josh

FYI derek and MFC, I looked all over for an explanation and couldn’t find out why the ‘A’ was missing….i was wrong, however I do know that teams rotate captains – i’ve only played hockey my entire life, d3 in MN most recently. so thank you for your kind response….also, I’ve been a blackhawks fan since I could pick a team, which would be somewhere round’ 5 or 6 yrs old, and I’m 24. = 18 yrs…..thanks again. (glad to see a stanley cup in chicago by the way)
