On Day 2 of the Evan Turner Draft Tour in Philly, the guard from The Ohio State University continued to sound like the man the Sixers will use the second pick in the draft on next week. Turner discussed many topics including having Doug Collins as coach.

What grabbed our attention most was that Turner had a discussion with the man he’d be bumping from shooting guard to small forward — Andre Iguodala.

Evan Turner sounds more like a Sixer with each passing day.

He said Iggy talked to him about the city and, “he told me to live close to a Dunkin Donuts because that’s where he goes on game days.”

When did Iggy become Derrick Coleman reincarnated?

Seriously, it’s a good thing to hear these guys have talked. Communication is key for any team, especially on the court. If dialogue is already open between, potentially, your best player and the team’s top pick, Doug Collins may have an easy time transitioning this team back from the Eddie Jordan fiasco to real NBA basketball.

The Sixers appeared divisive and not at all on the same page last year. The team must function together. Turner’s not even on the team and yet a veteran is trying to help him out just by having a conversation. That has to be a good sign.

Turner also discussed his eventual backcourt teammate Jrue Holiday. Turner said Holiday is a high school legend who’s bigger than he thought he was.

“I like the way he plays and I can’t wait to play with someone that youg who’s a competitor,” Turner said.

If that doesn’t sound like a kid with his heart set on joining the Sixers next year, then something is surely wrong.

The bottom line is after hearing Turner speak for two days, and the trade that brought two big men to Philly in Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes, we think BP has a better chance of cleaning up the oil spill next week than the Sixers do of passing on Turner.
