Word has just come out that former Sixer Manute Bol has passed away at the age of 47.
Bol had been battling kidney failure and skin disease over the last year or so. Best known for his NBA career, Bol became heavily involved in helping his homeland of Sudan, where he helped with healthcare and education programs.
The 7-7 center was always one of the better people when he laced up the sneakers for the Sixers. He was a shotblocking force who averaged 3.3 blocks a night despite rarely starting and playing just 18 minutes a game.
Of course, ‘Nute also was a 21-percent three-point shooter.
Manute was always one of Charles Barkley’s favorite characters on the team. Check out this video.
More importantly, Manute should be remembered as a Humanitarian. Here is a great Bol lifetime highlight video.
RIP, Manute. The world will miss you and your efforts.
