Phillies hitting machine Placido Polanco will miss his third straight game tonight with elbow soreness.
As we — and anyone else who watched the telecast — reported yesterday, Polanco will be out until at least Tuesday, A cortisone shot was given to him to help relieve the pain.
What’s causing the pain? Likely bone spurs according to numerous reports. The team and Polanco will continue to monitor his elbow, but he’ll likely need to have offseason surgery.
As long as the man doesn’t miss too many games and continues to hit around .315 or better, he can have all the bone spurs he wants. Once his hitting takes a dive, the Phils may want to consider getting their likely All-Star fixed in time for the postseason.
