According to Ryan Lawrence, beat writer for the Delco Times, Phils skipper Charlie Manuel could throw everything at the Braves if when the division is on the line later this month.

“Charlie doesn’t rule out matching Halladay, Hamels & Oswalt vs. Braves. He likes how both Roys have pitched on short rest in past,” tweets Lawrence.

Roy Oswalt combines with Roy Halladay and Cole Hamels to give the Phils a scary Big Three on the mound.

MLB.Com’s Todd Zolecki just added on Comcast SportsNet’s Daily News Live that the team has four Thursday’s off the rest of the eyar, which allows the Phillies to set their rotation if they so choose. It makes sense to try to overpower the team you’ve been chasing for much of the season. In Philly, we’re not used to this. We rarely have had the Schilling-Johnsonesque rotation that gives you stud pitchers who can go on short rest.

Remember, as much as we enjoyed our fall fling with Cliff Lee last year, Manuel didn’t like his performance on short rest.

Pitching won this team the World Series in 2008. This year’s rotation is a lot better than that one. We’re just sayin’…
