“Will he stay or will he go now?”

ESPN.Com’s Jerry Crasnick reports that future free agent outfielder Jayson Werth has fired his agent and is searching for a new one.

Phillies OF Jayson Werth has left the Beverly Hills Sports Council and is looking for a new agent. ‘He’s shopping,’ said a source,” Crasnick tweeted minutes ago. “Werth is one of top free agents on market this winter, so that’s led to the expected agent feeding frenzy. He hasn’t made his call yet.

Jayson Werth ponders which agent will show him the money this offseason.

Could he be switching agents because he didn’t like the way negotiations with the Phillies were progressing? What other reason would Werth have for switching agents now. Granted, he’s going to look for big money this offseason, but has his agent ever done him wrong? Or, does he just want a big name on his side such as a Scott Boras? Boras, by the way, was canned by A-Rod recently?

Time will tell, and the agent Werth ultimately hires will give us a glimpse into his plans. We can only hope it’s a change to someone with a great working relationship with the Phillies, Ruben Amaro and Pat Gillick.

Werth is hitting .297 with 19 HRs and 64 RBI. While his power numbers have dropped, his average has jumped this year. He will be a much sought after player on the free agent market.
