Let the madness that is the 2010 Eagles season start. Jeff McLane of the Inquirer tweeted this quote from Michael Vick minutes ago:

“I feel like if I had been out there for four quarters maybe we would have had a chance to win the game.”

Now, Vick could have just been answering a question honestly and not been trying to start something. We don’t know the context since we don’t have media credentials. However, based on the words, how can you assume that Vick will just sit back and say nothing if Kolb continues to struggle.

Keep in mind, it’s only one game and nobody should be ready to bench Kolb. Suggesting that is absurd. Still, Vick feels pressure to show what he can do. He is a free agent next year on the other side of 30. He’s lost his wealth. This will be his chance to earn big time money to set himself up for life. Forget whether or not he deserves the opportunity. That’s a moot point.

The fact is, he has the opportunity. If you think he’s going to sit back and not try to play and show the NFL he has his mojo back, you’re more insane than Crazy Eddie from back in the day.

Vick’s quote today could be nothing. It could also be the start of someone trying to put themselves in a position to make plays. For the sake of the locker room, the Eagles brass has to hope his words today aren’t an omen of things to come. If so, maybe we have another T.O. on our hands.
