For years we’ve been hearing that Philly is a baseball town, but the lack of winning had killed the mojo. The Eagles success in the early part of this decade led to the belief that we were becoming a football town.

Recently, Philly.com did a whole series trying to figure out whether we were more into football or baseball. Really, does anyone know? The day before Roy Halladay’s no-hitter this week, the sports radio stations were full of Eagles-Vick talk. Yes, that was on the eve of the Phils fourth straight playoff run.

Tonight, we’ll find out once and for all what kind of town we are. The Phillies and Eagles go head-to-head in prime time. The ratings will tell the tale.

Are we a football or baseball town? It's time to find out.

Tonight is huge for both teams. For the Eagles, this is a make-or-break game. Win and you go to 3-2 and stay in the division hunt. Lose and you drop to 2-3 and are likely headed for disaster. Sure, it’s just a regular season game, but when you only have 16 games each snap of the ball counts.

The Phillies play 162 games and it’s tough to maintain the intense high during the regular season. Playoff time gives you that extra urgency. The Phillies are on the verge of sweeping Scott Rolen and the Reds to the golf course.

Yes, the stakes are higher for the Phillies because it’s a playoff game, but the Eagles may actually need the game more.

Two teams. Two games. One time. One remote. One ratings book. One winner.

Phillies or Eagles? Eagles or Phillies? The ratings will let us know which team is more important in the hearts of Philly fans once and for all.
