Usually it’s a good thing when a team has a different player stepping up each night. Of course, when you are the 76ers, that’s not necessarily a positive.
After seeing Elton Brand, Andre Iguodala and even Evan Turner be the team’s go-to guy on different nights in this young season, the Sixers had just one win to show for it.
Second year guard Jrue Holiday finally displayed why new coach Doug Collins has said he believes the UCLA product can be a top 5 NBA point guard as he dropped in a career high 29 points, dished out eight assists, pulled down two boards and did not turn the ball over once.
The Sixers fell to the Cavs, 123-116, despite 29 points and eight dimes from Jrue Holiday.
While Holiday provided a silver lining, the rest of the team forgot what defense was en rout to dropping a 123-116 decision to the Cavs at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Sixers actually made a game out of it despite being outscored, 34-20, in the first quarter. At one point, they trailed 24-8.
Brand had his 20 points, but only managed two — TWO — rebounds in 30 minutes. It also didn’t help that Iguodala, one of the few on the team capable of passing a test on defense, was lost to an Achilles injury in the third quarter.
Honestly, it’s borderline sad to watch this team right now. Holiday and Turner are young guys you want to believe give us hope. But, what else do we have? Iguodala is a nice player, but will he be on the back end of his career by the time the Sixers are worth our attention?
The Sixers will try to garner a win Sunday when they take on the Knicks.
