Invisible for most of the Sunday’s game against the Giants, Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson had a 30-yard catch in the fourth quarter that was a historic moment for him that ended poorly.
Jackson hauled in a catch that put him over 1,000 yards receiving on the season with about 12 minutes left in the game and the Eagles trailing, 24-10. He then apparently was pushed to the ground and the ball came loose. The play was ruled a fumble.
Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson is the first receiver with consecutive 1,000 yard seasons since Irving Fryar..
Andy Reid had the red flag in his hand and never threw it. Replays clearly showed that Jackson fumbled the ball upon contact with the turf. It would have been overruled. How the big guy didn’t challenge that play trailing by 14 late in the game is something he will have to answer after the game. And, he’ll especially be questioned about it since the Giants took it down the field and went up 31-10 on a Kevin Boss TD.
In any event, Jackson becomes the first receiver with consecutive 1,000 yard seasons since Irving Fryar in 1996 and 1997.
