GQ Magazine wants to rip us? Fine, but I expect an apology in their next issue for naming us the worst fans in sports. Oh, yeah, I’m not going to hold my breath.
The fact is while Philly is the easy whipping boy, bad fans exist everywhere, and thugs are more prevalent in Los Angeles. We’ve been a bit lax in updating the Moronic Fan Watch and standings recently (mainly because of the time we invested in redesigning the site). It’s time to get caught up.
We’ll start in Los Angeles where Dodgers fans beat a rival Giants fan into a bloody pulp. While you can find the story anywhere on the Net, we’ll give props to our boys over at TheSchoolPhilly.
Los Angeles is full of thug fans. A beatdown of a Giants fan and a knife-wielding jackass at a Clippers game are just two examples.
A 41-year-old Giants fan was hit in the head, fell and whacked said head on the ground and then was kicked repeatedly by the same fans that TJ Simers praises whenever his cruddy teams face us in the playoffs.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, on March 19, a knife-wielding maniac rushed the court before a Clippers-Cavs game.
Those two incidents put LA in the lead for this year.
In addition to LA, Baltimore has reason to be hiding its collective faces as well. Seems that an Orioles fan was ejected from Spring Training for yelling racist comments at B.J. Upton.
That will move Baltimore into a three-way tie for second place in our standings behind the thugs from LA.
If you see or hear of moronic fan behavior, send us the tip at DailyPhiladelphian@gmail.com.
