Ben Francisco the 2011 Phillies MVP? That’s what a moron “scribe” at the esteemed Bleacher Report writes. What does he base it on? Benny’s monstrous three-game series against the formidable Astros rotation that features Brett Myers as its ace.

Yeah, Ben hit .462 with a dinger and 4 RBI. Oh, and they also cite the huge spring Ben had. Um, Dom Brown had a big spring last year. Just sayin’…

Is Ben Francisco the 2011 Phillies MVP? Bleacher Report thinks so based on three games against the Astros.

The writer says, and I quote, “But it is Ben Francisco who will have the biggest impact on the team this season.” Not Halladay, Lee, Hamels, Howard or JRoll. Nope. Big Ben.

So, if Francisco is this good, why didn’t he get a chance before? Why was he a “throw-in” in the first Lee deal?

He “has been a bench player his whole career,” the article reads. If playing 126 games in 2008 and 121 in 2009 qualifies as “bench player,” then I guess he’s right.

Look, Bleacher Report, you need fact checkers and writers with a sense of reality. Ben Francisco has decent power as he did hit 15 long balls in 2008 and 2009. He added six in just 179 Abs last year. But, should we anoint him the next Werth, the 2011 team MVP, the Next Big Thing, based on three games against Houston?

Get real, jackasses. Enjoy what Francisco has done and the decent numbers he will put up. But don’t expect a stud season from a guy who has never hit more than .266 in a season in which he has more than 70 ABs.

Thank you! The Bleacher Report is a heaping pile of steaming internet feces. Glad someone else recognizes that!
