Apologies to Michael Vick, but I’m doing this for his own good — and ours. Seems that our quarterback has made it to the finals of the Madden 2012 Cover Tournament. He downed Adrian Peterson last week in the Final Four.
The fact that Vick is in the finals isn’t a complete surprise. He is a star, has the nickname “The Human Joystick,” and has a loyal fanbase outside of PETA. His opponent in the finals is a surprise: Browns running back Peyton Hillis. Yeah, that guy. The Great White Hope.
Peyton Hillis and Cleveland deserve our support in the Madden 2012 Cover Tournament. Hey, it's for Vick's own good.
Philly, we all know Cleveland sucks, but it’s time to show them some true Brotherly Love. That city hasn’t won jack in, well, a long time. Oh, and their native son jilted them at the Boys Club in Connecticut last summer and is now kicking our ass in the NBA Playoffs.
Let’s throw them a bone and support Hillis over Vick. They deserve it. And, the curse that comes with the Madden Cover.
Sure, tell me that Drew Brees broke the curse last year. If you call falling to a 7-9 team in the playoffs a success after going 11-5 during the regular season and coming off of a Super Bowl season, sure.
The bottom line is the curse is well known. Hell, Vick was on the cover in 2004 an broke his leg in game 5. McNabb was on the cover and had his season end early. Those who don’t get hurt play on underachieving teams.
Hillis already plays for the Browns, a team that hasn’t celebrated jack shit since Bernie Kosar was under center. Their fans lives already suck. So, it’s really not hurting anyone to get Hillis on the cover.
As for us, we’re riding Vick’s shoulders. We go as far as he takes us. A year on the Madden cover isn’t what we need. Vick, love you, but I’m supporting Hillis for your own good. You can thank me in your Super Bowl MVP speech next year.
Bang it here to vote. Winner announced April 27 at 4 p.m. on SportsNation.

There’s no curse in being the first player to be on the cover twice. Brees had a decent season last year and he was on the cover. Lastly, People can choose to dislike Vick but his season spoke for itself. Peyton Hillis is not deserving of the Madden Cover- 1100 yds? Arian Foster came out of nowhere too, and did more, in less time! Vick wins.
Couldn’t agree with you more. I’ve voted against Vick every week. There are so many things that could go wrong for him next season, there is no reason to tempt the football gods any more. I have no idea how Hillis beat Rodgers, so hopefully he can pull the back to back upset.
