We’ve got some breaking Chase Utley news today: He has a chance to get voted to the All Star Game as a starter. Or, at least that’s what the Phillies and MLB.com are hoping.

Seems an article is posted pimping Utley for the game and reminding voters that they can start casting ballots now and continue through June 30.

Of all the players on the squad, I guess Utley is the poster boy for Phillies in the game. Then again, who else are they going to publicize that has a realistic chance of getting voted to start?

Ryan Howard is the obvious choice, but with Pujols, Fielder and Votto in the league, that’s just not realistic.

Rollins, Shane, or the entire outfield? No, no and hell no.

Chooch? Not with his .230 average.

The Phour Aces would be the obvious choices, but you don’t vote for pitchers.

So, yeah, sadly Utley is probably the best shot that the best team in the NL has at having a guy voted in as a starter. But, will he even be able to play?

Yeah, this is just one more clue to the fact that the Phillies offense sucks right now.

But, hey, since Todd Zolecki went to the trouble of writing the story, what the hell? Throw Utley and the rest of The Fightins a vote by banging it here.
