Asomugha didn’t eye Cowboys; Hanson on block

So that smug thug protector Jerry Jones thought the squeaky clean Nnamdi Asomugha was going to be a Cowboy. Well, Nnamdi disputes that a bit.

From Peter King’s MMQB:

I think I’m not questioning Jerry Jones’ belief that Nnamdi Asomugha wanted to be a Cowboy (he told the Dallas Morning News he thought for an hour on July 29 that Asomugha would be a Cowboy), but when I spoke to Asomugha about where he wanted to be, he told me the top two teams on his list were the Eagles and Jets. The plot thickens.

Hey, Jerry Jones, you never had Nnamdi. Get over it, bro'.

Indeed, the plot does thicken in Jones’ delusional brain. Nnamdi clearly wanted to go somewhere he believed he could “put a ring on it.” Dallas is not that place and hasn’t been since Jimmy Johnson and his core of players left. Jones is a GM/Owner, but he needs to give up the GM gig. Then again, as an Eagles fan, I’m cool with the Cowboys flawed failing ways continuing.

Bottom line, Nnamdi is an Eagle in a now studly, crowded defensive backfield. Which leads us to this next tidbit from King:

• Want a corner? Sniff around Philadelphia. “There are going to be some good players we’re going to have to let go,” Andy Reid said Saturday. And not necessarily on waivers. If your team wants Joselio Hanson and has a spare third- or fourth-rounder, the Eagles are probably in a dealing mood.

I’m not so sure the Eagles will be able to find a suitor. This isn’t the next Al Harris. Like Joselio, but he isn’t the same without his Chinese food bloating medicine. Plus, the Eagles are crowded in the backfield with Asante Samuel, Nnamdi, Domonique Rodgers-Cromartie, Trevard Lindley and Curtis Marsh. The guess is Joselio is cut.
