LeSean McCoy lone bright spot in Eagles debacle

Shady McCoy tweeted earlier this week that he couldn’t wait to go back to Pittsburgh, a city he loves and the place where he played his way into a second round draft selection.

Sadly, none of the other Eagles felt the same way.

McCoy was the lone bright spot in an otherwise pathetic preseason preparedness test as the Eagles got spanked by the Steelers, 24-14. The score wasn’t even that close. Two late scores from Mike Kafka to Greg Jones made it close.

The starters sucked. There is no other way to say it.

McCoy rushed four times for 25 yards. Even Ronnie Brown chipped in with 25 yards on six carries. Otherwise?

Well, Michael Vick ended a day during which he had to deflect a PR nightmare for the NFL he caused with three picks in 12 passes. He completed just five passes to the green jerseys.

On defense, the Eagles need to re-evaluate their linebacker situation. Casey Matthews isn’t Clay and looked pedestrian in his second preseason start. Honestly, the Eagles need to rethink moving Jamar Chaney from the middle.

Safety Nate Allen showed slowness in rehabbing from knee surgery last season.

The Eagles defense has issues. They gave up two quick scores in the first quarter with Asante Samuel and Domonique Rodgers-Cromartie getting beat. Not good for a squad built on a secondary that boasts three Pro Bowlers.
