Mrs. DailyPhiladelphian is applying for nursing jobs, and I’m tired of watching the same TV stories about Hurricane Irene. I mean, how many times can you hear the phrase “ghost town” in a day? And, can anyone tell me how many times the Atlantic City casinos have closed before? I missed that information.

Even the Philly athletes are stuck inside with the rest of us Philly folk tonight.

Anyway, this got me to wondering what our athletes were up to during this storm. OK, so I wasn’t really wondering, but happened to come across the information between newscasts. As a result, to Twitter we go.

Cullen Jenkins, AKA the #nightdoctor, reports that he has no power as of around 6 p.m.

“Power is out already. This should be a fun night.”

The #nightdoctor might want to hit up Eagles journeyman/stud DE Jason Babin. The free agent returnee appears ready to do a little sacking off the field tonight. Tweets Babin:

“If you make a baby girl during the hurricane, are you obligated to her Irene? Be careful fellas #HurricaneBaby”

Of course, he posted that just hours after this one:

“Is there a hurricane party tonight? In the downtown area?”

Guess the nurseries better get ready for an influx of Irenes in nine months. There were a ton of Donnas born in the early ’60s. Not sure how many Glorias there were in the mid 80s though. In any event, wonder what kind of party Babin found…

On the Flyers front, new franchise goalie Ilya Bryzgalov didn’t sound too find of his first fearful Philly weather.

“I hope buildings gonna be here after storm)”

He tweeted that minutes after sending out this photo from his apartment (we think).

Flyers goalteneder Ilya Bryzgalov wasn't digging the arrival of Irene.

Back on the Eagles front, wideout Riley Cooper, who’s been through his share of storms in Florida, showed his serious approach.

“Got a full tank of gas, bottled water, flashlight, and candles Bring it”

Jamary Chaney and Todd Herremans both wondered what Philly was up to tonight. Tweeted Chaney:

“Whats everyone in Philly up to in this rainy weather? What time do it suppose to get bad in Philly?”

And, would any Twitter update be complete without resident beefer LeSean McCoy, who left this cryptic message:

“Da burg crazy hurricane”

Thanks, Shady, for the insights. We’re guessing that Harrisburg is prepping for the wrath of Irene.

As for your Phillies who will now go at least six days between wins, they are safe in Cincinnati. As Jimmy Rollins reported:

“There is a concert going on outside the hotel. I have a nice view”

Thanks for rubbing that in, JRoll. We’ll just picture that concert when our power back in Philly goes out later tonight.
