Washington Capitals stud Alex Ovechkin is excited for the upcoming season as his team inked Tomas Vokoun to a one-year free agent deal. Vokoun was ranked the second best goalie on the market by most analysts.
The top guy? Yeah, you know his name; your team signed him. Ilya Bryzgalov, (and, yes, I still have to look up the spelling of his name).
Ovechkin may be skating scared against the Flyers this season.
Ovechkin is happy with what his team did, but isn’t thrilled with the fact that Bryzgalov ended up in Black & Orange. According to Frank Saravalli’s article today, Ovechkin had a few thoughts:
“Yes, it’s not very nice,” Ovechkin said. “It’s going to be more difficult to score against the Flyers now.
“But I was shocked when the Flyers traded Jeff Carter and captain Mike Richards. And then Bryz came over. He came to a good team that plays tough, defensive hockey.”
The Flyers lost offense by trading the young guns, but will be better defensively with Bryzgalov and, hopefully, a healed and healthy Chris Pronger. It will be harder to score against the Flyers, but do you admit that? Does Ovechkin seem a bit scared to skate against the Flyers? We’ll let you decide.
