Domonic Brown was reactivated from the DL last week and has picked up where he left off for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs — hitting the ball all over the pace.
In six games since his return he’s 8-for 22 with a homer, four RBI, five runs scored and two doubles. He’s also walked twice and struck out four times.
With trade rumors swirling around The Flyin’ Hawaiian and Hunter Pence, Brown will likely get called back to The Show this season at some point so the Phillies can see if the can rely on him to fill a void this offseason. If he can, the chances that the team can re-sign Victorino and go after a guy like Michael Bourn (expensive), or Cody Ross (cheap) and bullpen help increases.
Domonic Brown will get a chance to rejoing the Phillies this summer.
Brown may never be the superstar we all wished for, but he can be a serviceable Hunter Pence-type player who hits .260-.270 and drives in runs. At the league minimum, he’d be a better buy that Pence at $14 million. Again, Brown needs to show he can handle major league pitching. Looks like he’ll get that chance.

Please take him up. He is not helping the Iron Pigs win games. I am a regular attender to the Iron Pigs games. Those of you who sit in Philly and watch numbers see hits which have improved. You don’t see judgement or lack there of like last night’s bone head play that ended the game.. Obviously Sandberg was not happy with Brown’s game ending poor base running. Brown has a lot of talent but what will it take to teach this young man the game?
Thanks for your response and for reading the site. You are correct, we just see the numbers not every game. Decision making is something he needs to improve upon going forward. Boneheaded mistakes need to stop. I’m posting another story today about this and giving you credit for bringing this to my attention. His defense was a bigger issue than his batting last year and we need to keep that part of his game in mind.
