He’s 17th in WHIP with a 1.17, 37th in IP with 133.1 despite spending time on the DL, 22nd in strikeouts with 124 an boasts a 3.78 ERA. Yet, he has just two wins.

Cliff Lee is having a solid season and added to his lead in the No Decision category by garnering his 11th in 19 starts this year on Sunday. Yes, for Lee, this is the year of the No Decision.

Early on against the Diamondbacks on Sunday, it looked as though he’d add to the loss column by giving up three runs on two homers in the second inning. He ended up giving up four runs, all on homers, in eight innings.

Cliff Lee has the numbers but not the wins this year.

The Phils battled back before winning in the ninth on a walk-off single by Ryan Howard, giving Lee another ND. Lee’s final line for the day was 8 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, o BB, 5 K.

In going through the list of pitchers with 11 or more starts, there isn’t one other guy in double digits. That just shows you what kind of year it’s been for Lee. In seven of his no decisions, he’s gone at least six innings and given up three or fewer runs.

If Lee can keep pitching like this and getting the run support he has, you have to wonder if he’ll garner the single season record. Your DailyPhiladelphian is working on figuring out what that record is.

Then again, this is one category Lee and the Phils would rather he didn’t lead, especially with his season numbers.
