It was 20 years ago that Philly's Hank Gathers passed away on the court.

For those who are Philly hoops diehards, the name Hank Gathers will forever live on.

Gathers and high school and college teammate Bo Kimble helped little Loyola Marymount in California light up the scoreboard and make national headlines, averaging more than 120 points per game.

The leader of that team was Gathers, the man who played bigger than his size to control the paint. Gathers died on the court during a game due to a heart condition.

Just thirteen at the time the incident happened, I still remember the Loyola season and Gathers story vividly.
