The good news: your Philadelphia Phillies have two Top 100 prospects according to Baseball America’s 21st annual rankings. The bad news: The Fightins traded away four guys on the list in the last seven months.
Before anyone gets all riled up upon learning the identities of those on the list, just keep in [...]

That Ruben Amaro Jr. is one shrewd and sneaky swapper. Just when many were ripping him for dealing Cliff Lee, it looks like he’s going to get the last laugh.
Amaro dealt damaged goods to the Mariners. Lee recently had surgery on his foot to take care of some bone spurs and may [...]

Joe Blanton could cost Phillies more than Cliff Lee
January 19th, 2010 · No Comments · MLB, Philadelphia Phillies
Ruben Amaro had to know Joe Blanton and his salary would be brought up at some point when he decided to ship Cliff Lee to Seattle and bring in Roy Halladay.
Blanton, who filed for arbitration, is requesting $10.25 million for the upcoming season. The Phillies are offering $7.5 million. Blanton earned $5.475 million in 2009. [...]

CC to face his Daddy on Sunday
October 31st, 2009 · No Comments · MLB, Philadelphia Phillies
If the Yankees are Pedro’s Daddy, then the Phils are CC Sabathia’s Daddy.
While fatman CC has mowed down opponents throughout the last two years, he hasn’t done so well against the Phillies. In three career games, he’s 1-1 with a 4.35 ERA. That is not your normal CC Sabathia.
Last year, he gave up five runs [...]

Yanks fan accuses Lee of cheating

Why am I even about to give this issue any play at all? Probably to call this jackass on the carpet and show the world Yanees fans are dumber than Mets fans this week.
A Youtuber called DropsBombs (I guess he drops a deuce in the bathroom the way A Rod drops turds when he bats [...]

Manuel won't discuss Game 2 starter
October 25th, 2009 · No Comments · MLB, Philadelphia Phillies
Uncle Charlie knows his Game 1 starter is Cliff Lee. As for the rest of the rotation, he’s not ready to discuss that.
When given a chance to give Cole Hamels a vote of confidence as the No. 2 guy, Manuel told the Inquirer today that he isn’t at a point where he’s even close to [...]

Lee, then who? Phils rotation questions
October 24th, 2009 · No Comments · MLB, Philadelphia Phillies
Cliff Lee is the ace.
OK, I just violated the first lesson I ever learned in journalism class — always present news in your lede.
When the Phillies take to the field at the plush new Yankee Stadium, or the expansive Angel Stadium, for Game 1 of the 2009 World Series, Lee will be on the mound. [...]

Howard, Werth are clutch, give Phils 4-0 lead
October 19th, 2009 · No Comments · MLB, Philadelphia Phillies
After a perfect first inning from pitcher Cliff Lee, Ryan Howard and Jason Werth gave him a lead to work with.
Howard just smashed a two-run triple down the right field line, knocking in Shane Victorino and Chase Utley who both reached on singles. Werth followed with a two-run shot to deep center field.
Carlos Ruiz started [...]

Phillies rotation sets up nicely for NLCS
October 13th, 2009 · No Comments · Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies didn’t need to win their LDS series against the Colorado Rockies in four games. However, for the sake of their NLCS starting rotation, it’s good that they did.
Cole Hamels who would have pitched a deciding Game 5 today now is available to pitch Game 1 of the championship series. A California native, Hamels [...]

Step away from the Lidge
October 13th, 2009 · No Comments · Philadelphia Phillies
Brad Lidge has been the whipping boy in Philly this year, and rightfully so. The postseason, however, is a new day and Lidge has now converted two, heart-wrenching, back-to-back saves.
The Phillies secured a hard-fought 5-4 win to advance to their second straight NLCS appearance.
Trailing 4-2 entering the ninth inning, the Phillies offense woke up and [...]
