John Wall and Evan Turner going one-two in tonight’s NBA Draft is far from a secret. It’d be a shock if Wall doesn’t go one, and a mild shock if Turner doesn’t end up here in Philly.

The New Jersey Nets hole the key to the rest of the Top 5, and it looks like the lottery balls did the team from Sopranoville a Favors. Reports indicate the Nets will take Georgia Tech’s Derrick Favors third overall.

The player with the biggest upside in terms of athleticism according to draftniks, Favors will team with Terrance Williams to gove the Nets a solid young foundation down the line. The pick makes sense.

That leaves the Timberolves with a choice between DeMarcus Cousins and Syracuse’s Wesley Johnson. Since Minnesota drafted every guard in the draft last year, you have to think Cousins is going to play in Favreland. Does Minnesota really need another shooter, or someone to rebound down low?

Finally, the Sixers will get the shooting guard they have coveted and needed.

Against all odds, the Sixers moved from sixth to second in the NBA Draft thanks to the lottery. Assuming Kentucky PG John Wall goes first to the Washington Wizards, Evan Turner is there for the taking.

The shooting guard out of Ohio State is a playmaker, and he could form a lethal backcourt with Jrue Holiday.

Evan Turner is likely coming to Philadelphia to join a lineup of young players with promise. He and Jrue Holiday could form the NBA backcourt of the future.

Holiday flashed glimpses of being a legit point guard the team can build around in his rookie year.

The imminent drafting of Turner means the failed Andre Iguodala experiment at the two guard is over and he can play his more natural 3 spot. Thaddeus Young is a better power forward than small forward.

For the first time in a long time, the Sixers have hope. They may finally get their first star player since Allen Iverson was jettisoned to Denver.
