A day removed from Adam Burish’s moronic comments suggesting Chris Pronger is the NHL’s biggest “idiot,” the Flyers defenseman issued a classic response.

At first, Pronger said he didn’t have much to say about a guy who didn’t see much ice time. Then, when asked about Burish’s statement that he’d “like to punch Pronger the next time” they see each other, Pronger reeled off a classic one-line:

“Where’s that? In the minors?” he asked.

Pronger may be on to something here. Since Burish obviously knows he won’t be around to actually see Pronger face-to-face next year, he let the champagne muscles flex on Wednesday night. (We still question why NBC even interviewed the dope. It’d be the equivalent of Stacey Andrews being interviewed after an Eagles game last year.)

Anyway, we’d like to see the Flyers loan Pronger to an AHL team for one night next year just so Burish can get what’s coming to him. We’ll even take care of the travel and lodging costs for Pronger just to see this happen. Something tells us Burish would be a healthy scratch if Pronger showed up one night next season. That’s exactly what a punk like Burish would do.

For those who didn’t see it, here’s Pronger’s interview.

If the Flyers have nine lives, they’re going to use them all this postseason.

Once again, the Orange and Black are one game from elimination. Based on the last two months, you’d be a fool to count them out until the Stanley Cup is hoisted.

The Flyers suffered through a devestating three goal Blackhawk first en route to suffering a 7-4 loss.

Take away the empty netter and the Flyers outscored Chicago 4-2 in the last 40 minutes.

Granted, moral victories mean shit at this point, but it’s something the Flyers can build on. They need to carry that into the beginning of Wednesday’s game 6.

One thing the Fly Guys must figure out is the goalie situation. For the second time this series, starter Michael Leighton was pulled for Brian Boucher. Both guys let up three goals.

The guess here is Leighton gets the start because Boucher is still recovering from a knee injury.

The bottom line right now is that the Flyers need to display the balls that let them sneak into the playoffs on a shoot out, beat the Bruins after trailing 0-3, and win two games at home this series.

The rubber hits the ice in South Philly on Wednesday at 8. Let’s hope Chris Pronger puts some Hawks ass on the ice as well.

The Blackhawks came out Flying with intensity in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Sunday to take a 3-0 lead after the first period.

Chicago was able to move the puck at will and netted 3 of 15 shots in the opening frame.

Throw the puck at the net and see what happens. That’s exactly what the Blackhawks have done so far.

The Flyers look like they’re being coached by Andy Reid in a title game. They need to up the intensity or this game is over.

On the plus side for the Flyers, they have faced the best and now have 40 minutes to stage a comeback. And, this team is capable of comebacks.

They need to now play like they did in Game 7 vs. the Bruins.

A rout turned into a tense final few minutes at the Wachovia Center on Friday. In the end, the Flyers skated away with a 5-3 win and tied the Stanley Cup Finals at two games apiece.

A pivotal Game 4 for the Flyers looked like it’d be a rout early in the third period as the Orange and Black held a commanding 4-1 lead. Then, following two penalties, the Blackhawks enjoyed a 5-on-3 advantage and Dave Bolland scored on a power play to pull Chicago to within 4-2. Just 3:49 later, Brian Campbell netted his foirst goal of the series to make the score 4-3 and give the Flyers faithful a sever case of heartburn.

The Flyers are two wins from completing an improbably Stanley Cup run following their 5-3 Game 4 win on Friday.

That’s as close as the Blackhawks would get before Jeff carter scored an empty net goal in the final minute.

Michael Leighton saved 31 of 34 shots on net in the win.

Mike Richards and Matt Carle got the scoring going in the first period as the Flyers jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Claude Giroux added a goal in the last minute of the first to give Philly a 3-1 lead after one.

Ville Leino added a goal at the start of the third to make it 4-1.

The Quest for the Cup now turns into a best-of-three series, which continues at 8 p.m. on Sunday night in Chicago.

In not so many words, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman had this message for the whining Chicago Blackhawks coaches, players and fans: Stop your bitching when it comes to Chris Pronger.

OK, we are taking liberty in paraphrasing what Bettman actually said, but the gist is the same.

Gary Bettman put Blackhawks fans in their place regarding the legal play of Flyers Chris Pronger.

The Backhawks have complained about the way Pronger plays the game, specifically with his stickwork and interference. Bettman doesn’t see it or buy it.

“I don’t know that anybody’s brought anything to my attention that’s crossed the line,” Bettman said Friday during a radio interview. “Some people find what he does entertaining, some don’t. It depends on who you’re rooting for, but he’s been around long enough to know how to get close to the line without crossing it.”

Overall, Bettman calls the current Stanley Cup Finals between Chicago and the Flyers entertaining and good for ratings.

A critical Game 4 takes place in a few hours in South Philly.

And, you’d now be homeless.

Who would have thought the Flyers could outscore the Phillies over nearly a week, 5-4, and lose? Who?

Yet, the Flyers five goals against the Blackhawks were not enough thanks to a less than stellar defense as they lost, 6-5.

Game 2 will take place Memorial Day night in Chicago. The Flyers just need to steal one in Chicago.

If we’ve learned anything this Spring, it’s that you can’t count the Flyers down. Ever.

The Stanley Cup Finals begin on Saturday night at 8 in Chicago. Short of sports bars down the Jersey Shore, the shore could be a ghost town for a few hours.

Game 2 will be Monday at 8. Is there a better excuse for a holiday BBQ to end the weekend than a Flyers game?

Games 3 and 4 will be on Wednesday and Friday in Philly.
